Origins of IPA (Imperial Pale Ale)
Keeping it simple….
Pale Ale was brewed in England in the 1800’s using pale malts which resulted in light-colored beer.
When the British Empire exported beer to its colonies in India, it would spoil due to the long trip and tropical climate. They found that more hops and higher alcohol added to Pale Ale acted as preservatives. IPA was born!
